About Mark Richards
Mark Richards can be heard afternoons on FM 106.1.  Mark is a Milwaukee native, a graduate of Hamilton High School ("class of 19-something") who attended Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and Marquette University in Milwaukee.  You can hear his voice on numerous radio and TV commercials both locally and nationally.  For more than 20 years he has also been the voice of Milwaukee’s Holiday Folk Fair.  Mark has also done community theater work, appearing in plays such as “The Man Who Came To Dinner” in which he played the lead role of Sheridan Whiteside and “My Fair Lady”  where he played Henry Higgins.

When not in front of a microphone you can find Mark on the golf course or spending time with his family.  Mark is married to Laura and has one son, Joshua, who is in fifth grade.  Oh, and let's not leave out the family pets: Pumpkin, an Australian Terrier;  a goldfish named Mr. Squishy; and Stanley, a whale masquerading as a goldfish.

Reason no. 457 why I like country music
Saturday 11-15-2008 1:19pm CT
   Kanye West.
Here is what Kanye said in an interview earlier this week:
"I realize that my place and position in history is that I will go down as the voice of this generation, of this decade, I will be the loudest voice. It's me settling into that position of just really accepting that it's one thing to say you want to do it and it's another thing to really end up being like Michael Jordan."
Now some people might agree with this statement, but then again they might have a rather narrow view of music today.  They might not have heard of people with names like Paisley, Urban, Swift, Underwood, and McGraw.  Oh, and there's this fellow named Chesney, who sells out football stadiums when he plays live and sells millions of albums as well.  You see I've learned that country music isn't just the music of one generation; it's the music of all generations.  Sure, I play country music on the radio and I'm a bit biased, but I also just returned from Nashville and had the opportunity to meet and talk to some of those artists I mentioned.  Even with all the success they've had, they're still genuine, humble people.  They seem honestly pleased when you pay them a compliment, and always go out of their way to thank their fans and country radio for supporting them.  I mean, can you imagine George Strait saying something like Kanye West did?
One other thing: how do you think Michael Jordan would feel if somebody called him the "Kanye West of basketball?"
